About
Outside Box Productions
This is my production company, being the owner, operator, employee and security guard I’m pretty much a one man show. I also do a little contract work for interested parties.
About Me
I deal with animation, live action, and comic art. I graduated college with an AA in Film production, I’ve been developing my own style of horror for 5 years now: unconventional and experimental stories are my area’s of interest. Originality is something I strive for in my work.
I was born on 7/11/80, the same day as my mother and her twin sister. As a kid I grew up watching anime like Bubblegum Crisis, Urusei Yatsura, and Macross when other kids were watching Star Wars, Disney, and Nickelodeon. BGC has always had a profound impact on my work as it was the first anime I remember watching as a kid in 1990.
I’m also dyslexic, love cats, hate news channels and politics. You won’t see any pictures, or even a caricature of me on my site, I have Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I can’t stand to see pictures of myself and I hate the idea of other people seeing pictures of me as well. I already have enough trouble looking at myself in the mirror.
My Influences
I love the original survival horror games of the late 90s, Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Unfortunately in the past few years both of these two once amazing series have opted to forget about the old school fans that helped them prosper, and cater to a new younger action loving audience. Now that the creators and development teams of the original series have all left, so have I and many other fans.
When I was a film student my biggest influences were Orson Wells, and Sam Raimi. May seem like an odd combo, but both were young directors who had amazing visions that have added a lot to the world of cinema. Wells was a master who is responsible for so much of the film techniques we use now in terms of lighting, cinematography, and editing. Raimi has a very energetic and comic book style that immediately grabs you and he himself as a director has grown and matured very and remained just as creative.
Christopher Nolan is hands down my biggest influence now. I really do appreciate how he takes such big concepts in his film, but always keeps them grounded in reality. So many directors just do whatever and don’t care about the consequences. Nolan isn’t like that and really makes amazing films with depth, intelligence, and a lot of originality.
My Webcomic
I have a webcomic that I’ve been working on story wise since late 2006 and hope very much to have it up around …Well, whenever I can get enough of it done to share really. Its only been that past month now I’ve had lunch as well as made progress on it.
It’s a medieval fantasy series that’s inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics, as well as some elements from Westerns, and my own odd ideas I’ve had sitting around for a few years. Eventually it will be an adventure story with a big story, but god only knows when and if I’ll get that far.
My Dream
I want to be able to make a living off my talents, I haven’t done too bad but I need to be doing better. I only ask for a donation here and there when its manageable as well as a Subscription and view or two to my new Youtube Channel.
My Updates
There are two updates a week, Mondays and Fridays. New content will be uploaded on at least one of these days, or even both days depending on how much work I can get done.
I hope you enjoy what I’m doing and support me and my work.
